What was wrong with the stock BOV? It is quite effective. EVOs generally do not like aftermarket ones ESPECIALLY if it vents to the atmosphere. By the way, i see you are from Rockford. Is that Rockford, IL by chance?

Get ride of it and get yourself a IX BOV. If you capped the intake it means you are venting to atmosphere. If so, You just robbed performance from your Evo!

Maybe a little better with a tune, but the BOV doesn't help at all. You don't get any gain in performance. Just rich AFRs when shifting, lots of noise, and compression surge. Most people who run BOVs anyway usually have to tweak and adjust the spring rates just right to minimise the surge and flutter.

If you go the DV route: Stock IX DV (26? PSI) or Forge DV (Good for 30+ psi).

BOV Route: APS Dual Vent

I'd honestly sell that BOV and get a IX DV. They're praised for a reason.

the SARD R2D2 sounds like a turkey garble then Pshh! because of the diaphragm design. At low it emits a nice and sometimes long blow off. But it's a real quick exchange between the sounds also at full boost.

I used to have one before I sold it to a guy that had to have it and he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Yeah... That BOV is just nuts... It almost make like 3 sounds for one blow off!

Enjoy it but it def is not compressor surge!

no matter what when moving to a vent some evo's will have issues. there has been lots of accounts on this forum of users of VTA bov's that have idle issues or none at all.

A tune will do you just fine. That BOV is the most distinct one I've ever heard. So many people asked me when I had it.

Sard

i had this one above, one my 95 GST..and it does not do the lame bird chirp, it sounded more like steam venting from a pressure valve.under low boost it did sound like it sputtered. SARD products are the bomb, and none of their stuff is
low grade in anyway.

I went with the same BOV once the R2D2 reached it's PSI limit at 26lbs. the racing bov from Sard pictured above is the shizzzzzzzz!!!!!!!! especially above 30psi!
