settle diffences bettwen USDM Evo8s

I just noticed that there are some little difference between some evo8 here in U.S. My car, which I know its a first allocation(i got it in march 19th), has the spring type 'oh crap' handle(the one that spring back once you let go). And I went in a friend's evo which might have been 2nd allocation(he got it in june) that has the pullout type of 'oh crap' handles(the ones you pull it out and there isnt any springs in there). It might be a little difference, but you might be able to tell between allocations from that.

he's talking about the oh, **** bars. The handles above the windows you can hold onto or hang your dry cleaning from.

Oh Sh*t

My handles are actually straps. The kind that need to be pressed back into place. I had plastic "oh sh*t" handles on my VW and they were a lot better for talking home dry cleaning than these straps! Are there some Evos with hard plastic handles?

Check this.... When I look at the aluminum head directly under the valve cover, I can see that my head is smooth with no grains in it whatsoever. Then when I look at other EVO's, ones with later build dates the casting seems to be different. The finish on the head is grainy looking, almost looks like sandpaper. While my finish is smooth as a babies butt. I confirmed this on three newer EVOs with build dates in April and May while mine is in February.

I think all Evos with spring handles are hard plastic handles.
