Ok, so im lookin into gettin a boost controller. But i dont have much knowledge about it. So heres a few questions:
How many lbs of boost does a stock evo carry?
How high can i set up the boost without the risk of damaging anything?
How much horsepower gain would i get from that?
And any other basic information would be appriciated.
Im sorry if these questions sound dumb, but i dont know A LOT about car and im just tryin to learn.
Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong anyone
How many lbs of boost does a stock evo carry? 21 i believe, lowering to 18 near redline
How high can i set up the boost without the risk of damaging anything? With a tune, 23lbs on 93 octane, 20lbs on 91 octane
How much horsepower gain would i get from that? 20-30 if you never have had a tune before

stock evos peak about 19 psi and taper to around 16.... all depends on weather and altitude
lets not be stupid....dont turn your boost up until you get a tune with the appropriate mods first. you wont see much power gains anyway. you need to let the car breathe better before you try cramming more air in her

I'm running stock boost with my MBC at the moment until I can tune her. There is no point in running 22-23 PSI without a tune. I'll be patient and do it the right way.

At least the stock boost levels taper a little less now.

Evo VIII 03-05 peak at 19 psi and taper to 16 by redline
Evo IX's peak at 20 and taper to 17 by redline.
As previously stated this is affected by the weather and tune.
The best gain I noticed without turning up the boost after installing my Blitz SBC iD was that the boost didn't taper to redline nearly as much if at all. I was holding 19 psi to redline. Of course when the temp dropped outside I hit fuel cut and promptly installed the Walbro 255 and then cams and head studs and injectors. . . and the Evil One was born! LOL ( Evil because I can't stop spending money on it to get more performance!)
I recommend that you do the supporting mods first then the performance mods. Have fun with it.
