Ok, I have a winner for you.
1998-2002 Audi a6 with a 2.7t motor and 6 speed manual.
Same engine as the s4 (2.7 liter twin-turbo) and same 6spmt as well.
My buddy Marc just bought one and with a chip and mbc, he went 12.8 @105mph!
Stock exhaust, full weight (minus spare and jack--under 3900lbs with driver), 140k miles on the car.
All that plus a/c, heated seats, and full luxury.
Plenty of aftermarket for the car for whenever you get the 'bug' again to go to the track.
Ultimate sleeper.

I'm in the exact same boat. I make good money, but priorities have forced me to reevaluate where my money goes. Anyways, I tried to justify a lightly modified 2001 A4, a couple of E36 M3's, or an 02 WRX, but the pragmatic side of me keeps knawing at my conscience. In the next month or so I'm going to buy a 2001 clean Honda Civic. It's practical, reliable, and when I can dump real money back into a fun car I can unload the civic with minimal loss. Best of luck.
If she doesnt want u 2 have a race car then u never will......
