why are dealers asking so much $$$

i just went on cars.com looking for EVO prices to compare the value of my car.
you will notice that the dealers are asking 10-30% more than what people are asking for on the board.
you even see some 06 mr's that are going for 37 grand.

a few people predicted couple months ago there will be a hike in value of the viii's and ix's. its because the new x's arent selling. i went to a mitsubishi dealer over the weekend and they were asking $42k for a new x. no wonder they had like 15 of them on their lot.

that and dealers typically CAN ask that much more for cars... (37k is rediculous) than from private sellers.

to answer your question, you pay more at a dealer because it is more of a sure thing thank private party. it has been inspected, cleaned, you know there is a very low chance of there being any title problems. The biggest thing is that you have recourse if you buy it and have a problem right away. Some think it is worth it.... others do not
