I'm at about 70K and no lifter noise. The last OEM oil filter I had on the car is the one that came on it from the maker. So, I have hard time believing the OEM filter is the secret. I do try to use a quality filter.

You guys cant be serious about an oil filter... can you?

My car has seen nothing but the ****tiest oil and filters money can buy. I run 272's and I dont have lifter tick. I have almost 80k miles on the motor.

Bleed your lifters, if thats no good. Suck it up.

we are not complaining. just wondering why this is happening, i just changed my oil and used a different filter and heavier oil and i got ticking. kinda weird. you don't just suck up and let something possibly bad happen just so that i can throw more money into my car... that is ignorant.
i dont suck up when i get a tooth ache i go to the dentist and have it fixed, other wise my tooth will rot out of my head.

Some things can't be fixed or aren't harmful to you car though so your analogy doesn't apply.

I'm just saying, evo's are known to tick. Assuming you installed your cams correctly, you should be fine.

If not, it's nothing an oil change will fix. Oil prevents damage, not fix it. You should pull your valve cover off and inspect for broken parts if you are that concerned.

me personify have never heard of lifters just start ticking out of the blue for no reason... but you could be right, it could just be the nature of the beast.
i just thought i was odd it started immediately after i did my oil change.

Mine also started to make a little noise after 8 passes on the dyno but now the noise is gone could this be the oil getting too hot Im using 10w-30 mobil 1.

Mine has that light tapping like the first video, but mine only does it when the car is fully heated up.

And it's random. It's not like a steady pattern. It's like tap, tap, nothing, tap, tap, tap, tap, nothing, nothing, tap, nothing... etc. I wonder if this is the same thing?? The car has quite a bit of valvetrain noise I wonder if my valvetrain is ok as one shop kept revving the stock head (minus headstuds and cams) to 8k on a 2.3L.

All evos do this when having big cams and upgraded springs more so on a stock motor. It normal guys as long it's not piston slap or a floated valve then your good.

WOW this thread was very very very helpful to me... i started hearing this noise 2 weeks before i stored my car for storage for the winter...and now threw the whole winter im sitting here thinking my evo is all fu**ed up. Im actually glad too hear that its normal.. Umm the noise im getting is the one in the first video.. and it makes that ticking noise when the car is warmed up only.. and WOW in parking ramps its LOUD! also drive threws against the wall!

As long its normal im fine with it then.
