That's a misconception. I've had two Evos since February 2006, both of which remained completely bone stock, never knocking once on California 91 octane.

there was a guy right near me who wanted to keep his stock, but apparently just bought an exhaust. i guess its what ppl are saying, you can only keep it stock for so long then it just gets to be too much you need something else

The manufacture leaves room for errors whether its user based or actually bad batch of gas/weather just in case if anything occurred. After market tune achieves more HP simply by taking the margin of safety away or minimizing it.
While traveling some states/roads only had 89 gas I was wondering if I had an after market tune what I would have done?? Maybe towed my car across that state.
Regardless I support tuning and after market parts” BUT”
Back to subject who’s else is stock.. I am surprised how many we found, that’s good news.
