Emission

^you don't know what your setup is?
if you have a downpipe + test pipe setup, find a cat and replace the test pipe with it.
if you have a downpipe/cat-delete in one (for example the dc sports downpipe), find a downpipe and cat to use and replace that...

Looks like Atlanta is the only part of georgia that does emissions.

Jamsky, I lived in Kennesaw for 15 years and with OBD II cars all they do is plug the emissions machine into the ECU and thats that. As long as your not throwing any CEL codes than than your fine. Thats all through out GA. Most counties in GA still don't require emissions, so if you don't pass for some reason you can register your car at a friends place that doesn't have emissions (like Cartersville). I had to do this with my old 240sx w/ SR20.

How can I register in other county if I'm a resident of a county where my Evo is registered with?

There's a ton of info here. http://www.cleanairforce.com/index.php
This may help.
And yeah, you can ask a local inspection spot what they do just to be sure.
This may help.
All 1996 and newer vehicles will receive a two-part inspection.
* An OBD test to check your vehicle’s emission control performance history.
* A fuel cap inspection to check for adequate seal.
If an OBD test is unable to be performed on a vehicle, it may be necessary to perform a Two-Speed Idle test (TSI).

I live in TN and have emissions to deal with as well. If you're not throwing a code don't worry. Just take it in and you'll pass. If you don't PM me the results and I'll help you out. BTW, 635whp and have passed for the past two years...definitely no cat!

What is a code? How do they perform emission testing in TN?
#25
If your state does emissions ,even if you dont throw a code you can still fail emissions. Emissions is when they put a sniffer on your tailpipe and check the amount of pollutants that come out.

Codes are thrown from an OBD2 system usually triggering a service engine soon lights. If the code is gone so is the ses light unless the bulb for the ses burned out. Then after the codes are gone you have to travel a certain number of miles so that all the readiness codes are on.

Everytime I start my engine I always noticed that there's a little black material coming out from the pipe. Do you know what is that since I dont have my cat already?

^ that is just cuase ur car is cold and when it starts up it will run rich while it begins to warm up. if u don't have a cat to burn up that extra fuel then u wind up seing it come out the muffler

So is this mean that I will fail the emission?
