Tranny Drain/Fill Bolts Location
Ok I know I'm going to get flamed for asking a dumb question like this but I decided to ask anyway. Where exactly is the drain and fill bolts for the tranny on a 6spd mr? Are they hex bolts? I'm just trying to double check make sure I have the right bolts before I do anything. I checked the sticky in the how-to section for tranny fluid change but thats for a 5spd tranny and apparently the 5spd vs 6spd they are different So can any1 help me out?

Just a litlle note. Always take the fill plug out first! Shouldn't be a problem as our cars aren't that old, but nothing is worse than taking out the drain plug and you cant get the fill plug out. lol.

I ran into this a while back and was a little confused. For the IX 6spd tranny, the drain and fill plugs are actually 10mm ALLEN bolts. Refer to this thread for pictures.

hope it helps clear everything up. If all else fails, take out the bolt and see if fluid comes out.....

No, that picture that i took was of the drain plug. The fill plug is above it (see picture in above post). I'm pretty sure it's also a 10mm Allen, but i haven't done it in awhile. It's in the middle by it's self, so it shouldn't be to hard to locate. Just try taking it off and sticking your finger in, then you'll know it's the right one.
