Drill a hole in the wastegate...

Can anyone explain to me where in the wastegate the actual diaphragm is? I've looked for pictures but none of them really show it in detail. Can you drill a small hole in the lip of the wastegate where the two halves meet without causing any adverse issues? I've done the spring mod two times and both times it's slipped off the lip so I'm trying to find a better solution. It's that or put one end around the nipple on it but not sure if the tension would bend the nipple since it's a pretty powerful spring. Has anyone disected these who can tell me if it's safe?

Thanks!
Matt

I am curious as to why exactly you are wanting to do this. Will you please explain?I am not hating, but instead, just wondering. Also,I'd like to know much boost you are running. Is this with the stock WGA?

Running 29 lbs on the stock wastegate. Using a spring on the lip of the wasteate as is causes it to slide around and over time the spring has popped off becaus ethere isn't a good spot to hook on. My intent is to drill a small hole for one end of the spring to hook to but before I drill a hole in it I want to make sure I'm not going to hit the seal. It will be a pretty small hole but a small hole through the diaphragm can cause big problems so I want to make sure I don't puncture it. I need info as to how the inside of the wastegate is laid out.
