Has anyone put the SSL sub in a non SSL car?
Surprisingly, I could not find a thread where someone has said that they actually did this and got it to work well.
I know that everyone is going to tell me not to do it. I like the way that setup sounds and I found a good deal on the AMP, SUB and STOCK RADIO from a SSL car so I want to do this.
Has anyone done it with success? Please fill me in.
Are my stock speakers from my non SSL '05 GSR the same as the SSL ones?
Are there holes in the trunk for the sub in my car?

That's a good question. But, unless you are getting them for dirt cheap, I don't think I would attempt it. I have the SSL speakers in mine and the sound quality is sub-par. I don't really see how you couldn't put it in though, it is after all the same car.

I have the SSL option in my car and after replacing the stock head unit the sound really woke up. So if you are looking at putting the sound portion of the SSL in your car I would suggest not using the stock head unit, but instead go with an aftermarket one. The sound will be much better.

No, my car came with the SSL speakers. I think all of them are sub-par compared to other manufacturer's premium sound system. I do agree with Chemwarrior though because my headunit was changed and it sounds decent.

Interesting. I think I am going to stick with the stocker for now since I am getting all of the stuff together.
I spoke to an audio store today. They basically said that it couldn't be done without the wiring harness.
Does anyone know how much of the harness is needed? Does part of it disconnect from the main wiring harness? Someone enlighten me.

i'm SSL and everything is stock besides my alpine 9885 head unit and i'm perfectly happy with it. it's enough for me.
except my rear/front speakers are mixed up (when i balance to either they're opposite, dunno what i did wrong) but i can't tell any difference sound-wise.

Amount of watts per channel does not matter. In most cases it is marketing hype. What you need to find is a good receiver with decent to good DAC's. A good deck that states 25 watts per channel but has good burr brown DAC's will sound better than a deck with 50 watts without burr browns
