My car is an RS model, the trunk is already gutted. Like I said earlier, I still can't believe I paid $500 for the battery, but I'm trying to justify it.
I'm 130 lbs too. I would be perfect size for a crotch rocket.

Personal weight reduction = weight reduction stage 1.

I'm a big fan of weight reductions. If you add power your car will get faster and probably break more, if you reduce weight your car will get faster and probably break less.

Actually I think it should read more power=faster, quality parts and responsible driver=reliability and finally weight reduction=faster.. Saving 30 pounds isn't going to make your car any more reliable

Also note that the place you remove weight and what you remove weight from is also very important, both performance wise and reliability wise.

Your car will be more reliable if you remove stuff like AC, radio, lighting system, but I'm sure it will be the opposite if you remove chassis bracing, using two bolts where you should use five, etc.

You can lose like 40-50 lbs replacing exhaust with after market one, but if you only consider the performance gain just from the weight reduction, I'm sure it won't be as beneficial performance wise compared to losing 40-50lbs from roof and windows. Also for evo there is a lot to take out from the back, but its hard to lose the front, and the car is already 60 front / 40 rear in stock form.

Battery and front crash beam are the only two I can think of interms of weight reduction in front, maybe removal of spray bottle if your car comes with it. Battery is at the highest position and biggest weight reduction you can do out of all three.
Pretty much all other replacements are weight gains - bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, bigger or additional oil cooler.

for weight reduction purposes wouldn't a girl be the most suitable candidate as driver?

Hey that took all of 1 min. + 40lbs. lighter + no cost = Literally PRICELESS..
who said he didn't do that already. He probably did everything else imaginable minus gutting the interior. I think its a good call on the part of the op if there is no cold winter where he lives. Guys, everything adds up. You guys are making it sound this was his first weight reduction mod. Obviously its not.

I think that it's money well spent. I'd much rather spend $500 on a lightweight battery than some overpriced useless ARC product that has broken English written on it.

I just took out all of my ac stuff. Condensor, compressor, all the lines.. etc..
what kind of gains have you guys seen with removing these items? How much weight do you think i lost with that? My car weights like 3365 before i removed this stuff with 1/4 tank of fuel.

Sorry not trying to thread jack just curious if i need to make another thread for it i can..

I dont post here just read...but had to respond to this thread.

$500 bucks HAHAHAHA...HOLY CRAP!!!!!!

this battery weighs about 8lbs...$70 SHIPPED!!!

1 x Deka Power Sports ETX14 AGM Battery (ETX14) = $70.00

http://www.dcpoweronline.com/product...products_id/30

Starts everyday..dont know about winter...evo is a garage queen.

Not trying to knock your $500 battery (looks nice) but you must be a RICK ROSS BOSS to afford that..but above is a cheaper alternative for anyone else looking to save weight. peace out!!
