In my area the cops are lazy and just use the radar since they don't need to hold up a gun to shoot the laser. That being said I think a combination of radar detector and laser jammer (which is legal) is the best combo against all threats.

i got pulled over once before i got a chance to turn it on.. i made a right hand turn out of my condo & literally got pulled before i could make a shift into third gear. They were doing construction and dropped the speed limit down to like 15mph instead of 35.. was out of town on business and had gotten back late the night before.. so anyways got a pretty bad ticket.. cop saw the V1 and he said "was surprised you didn't see me, thats a pretty good detector" i was like, helps if its on

Considering most cops these days prefer to run laser (at least when stationary) the usefulness of any radar detector is limited.
That being said, I love my V1 and hate driving rental cars etc, without it. You still have to be vigilant and keep an eye out for cops, cause not all of them have radar or have it on. And if they are running a laser trap you got to watch for them by the other cars up front slowing down.
Stay alert and its a great tool to help you avoid a ticket.

I'm watching a friend's evo for him while he's gone on deployment, and he has a valentine 1. The only thing that annoys me about it is that it can detect EVERYTHING! Going past a store with an automatic door will set it off. Other than that, its the best radar detector I've ever seen.

It is a radar detector and laser detector, usually when you get hit with laser it is too late because they already got you. They usually only run laser when they do speed traps. All the other cops use radar and when they beam someone the V1 picks it up. If you just buy a V1 it will not jam at all just detect. You have to look for a separate laser jammer for that. It does work very well just look at the others in the forum that have responded to it. It is the best detector they have had. www.valentineone.com should show how impressive it is

If you want the best laser jammer, get the Laser Interceptor, LPP, or AL.
