Valentine One

Sorry for double post but,

I just purchased a Valentine One (Radar Detector) anyways I was wondering how many of you fellow Evom people actually had one, and is there any experience you had while you have had it that you actually got pulled over for speeding. Let me know

You won't find many people that have been pulled over for speeding while using a Valentine One.

I trusted my Escort Solo 2 for years until one day I got tagged. The cop actually turned his lights on before my radar detector went off. Come to find out the Solo 2 is actually off something like 80% of the time in an effort to maximize battery life. As soon as I found this out, I ordered a Valentine One. It's got so many features, yet it's so simple. You can probably turn off X band in your area to avoid all the door openers from setting off your detector, but make sure you do some scouting first to be certain none of the local cops are running X band radar.

Be sure to hard wire the thing, and mount it high enough on the windshield that it actually works from behind like it's designed.

I'm on my third one actually. first one got confiscate in Canada (they don't allow radar detector in Canada). Second one got stolen in a local parking structure (some low-life smashed my window and tooke the V1 and CD player but left my laptop in the trunk). So I'm on my third one. I actually scare to drive without the V1.

Sad to hear that man... there's always some lowlife people out there I have a Cobra XRS and it's always been good for me so far. Like 90GSX-03EVO said, I got pulled over once with my Cobra detector because it was off I hardwired the cig lighter #2 right below my knee and must have kicked it when I got in. Good thing I got a warning for it I hid mine high and close to the visor so that i can push the visor up when necessary so cops wouldn't see if they peek inside. Here's two pic if you guys wanna see.

Let us know how well it performs once installed and used.

Been using one for 10 years now and I highly recommend it. Only ticket I have gotten with it was when I got zapped with laser on vacation down in Atlanta several years ago.

Best detector by far of the 3 i have used (solo2, passport x50 and v1).

If there is a radar band, you will know well in advance and in what direction it is coming from which takes out the guess work when you are trying to locate the potential threat, but like Yodobashi said above, with laser, you will still get caught, no matter what detector you have. Laser is a quick burst of light that is reflected back to the operator in which after your detector has detected it, they already have your speed.. there have been instances in which it does bounce off other vehicles, but normally, if you get hit with laser, they are targeting your vehicle and have your speed instantly not allowing you to slow your vehicle in time.
Radar traditionally emits a more constant band which travels for distances and can be picked up by a detector even a few miles away allowing ample time for speed reduction.. but there is also an exception here, with the new pop-mode which is like a combination of laser and radar, think of it as an instant on radar. The same results are experienced as with laser, your speed instantly relayed back to the operator.

The newest version of the V1 (1.8) will detect all the bands (K, Ka, X, Laser, and Pop-Mode), but like any detector, this is not a free ticket to speed.. you still need to drive 'smart'..

Let me know if you have any other questions

I've never received a ticket. It rocks! I speed on a regular basis too and my V1 never fails to warn me of cops up ahead.

I have been pulled over about three times for being seen speeding by cops who had their radar guns turned off. Because they don't have a read on me with a radar, they've been forced to let me off with a warning.

Love my V1. I hate driving without it and have never been pulled over with it. The x50 is also a very good detector.

However, with more and more cops running instant-on radar and laser, you still need to be careful, especially if you are all alone without a "rabbit" to follow.

It's the FIRST mod you should get!

I have the V1, the gf has the V1, everyone has the V1! It pays for itself, over and over again.

I am using the passport x80 for 2 years.. I've just got my first speeding ticket yesterday as I've turned off my radar..

the V1 is even better than the passport.. so you should get the idea..
