Question Dash lights out sort of?!?!

Long story short when I turn on my lights the backlight of the speedo/rpm/ and dash lights go dark but when I turn the lights off the backlighting comes back on. Has anyone encountered this or know what it could be? My DEFI gauges are working fine and everything looks good. I would start looking now but its dark and going to go at it in the morning any pointers would be appreciated.

Generally the backlighting on the gauge cluster will dim a bit when you turn on the headlights. Its normal. If you ever turn your lights during the day do you notice how hard it is too see the clock? The Defi gauges may not be designed to dim when you turn the headlights on but I wouldn't have a for sure answer on the defi's since I do not have them. Nothing to worry about.

Ever since I installed my gauges my radio lighting lights up when I press my brakes.. Something is wired wrong I think... Only does that when the parking lights are off.

Ok either I'm not driving my evo enough or I'm just an idiot. Does the dash lights stay lit even when the headlights are off? I just did some rewiring of gauges and can't remember if they always stay on...

If one of the dash light bulbs does burn out, specifically the one behind the gas gauge and engine temp., how does one change the bulb?
