Evo, WRX, Camaro, and BS.

Now if the Evo was to be detuned then it would be a direct competitor with the base WRX. Reason is that the new WRX with its new lower HP is actually just a detuned STI. It no longer has the same 280hp rating as the STI Editions so by detuning the Evo and selling it in the US then it would be a direct comparison. Besides that the Evo has been routinely thousands less then the STI Edition WRX's. With a RS model EVO7 costing about $24K out the door and the GSR costing $28K its not tough to see a detuned Evo running the same in the US and directly competing with the base WRX. Of course the Mitsubishi dealerships being the asses they are will probably keep some people from buying the Evo just to avoid having to deal with a crook like the dealerships were over repairs for the Eclipse.

I figured i would jump in on this thread as it seems to be very interesting. I think the japanese car makers have trouble with bringing 280 hp behemoths stateside is the lack of any gas over 94 octane in the regular market and these cars are designed for ~100 octane gas to get that kind of power. I doubt i would want an STI WRX if they brought it over from what i heard it has a radio and AC delete, which makes it sound like it is a race only type car, I love fast cars but i also like basic amenities. If mitsu is smart it will bring the EVO VII over to compete with WRX. The EVO is a much more attractive car and the traditional four banger is much easier to work on then that flat monstrosity (unfortunately a better layout for making power). I checked out thw WRX and I couldn't buy it because it is just so ugly. I knew my wife would never let me live it down if i bought an ugly car like that even if I can appreciate its ability beyond its looks. So now i have convinced my wife to let me buy an EVO when it gets here. Now that i have the difficult person convinced i just need to talk mitsu into it. It helps that i bought my wife an '01 galant with the V6 and she loves it and the performance is great, so i cant wait for mitsu to bring a true sports car. That is my .02 cents, thanks for letting me rant.
