The intercooler pipes that come stock on the car and the couplers are **** imo.

I would highly recommend you do a LICP, FMIC while you're at it since you have the bumper off and the upper intercooler pipe and an intake well before you do cams.

Once the boost in the engine goes up, power goes up. The stock pipes and couplers are not good at all for higher than stock boost levels. I just installed a full Injen I/C kit in black with brand new couplers on super tight. While I was at it, I also installed a ForgeRS recirculated BOV, and a Forge Manual boost controller.

I am not even thinking about doing cams until I have all the following done:

LICP, UICP - Injen Intercooler piping - done.
FMIC - AMS FMIC - done.
BOV - ForgeRS Recirc. BOV - done
MBC - Forge UNOS MBC - done.
Full Turbo Back Exhaust - Megan Racing Down pipe, test pipe and rare black Cat Back - DONE!
Boost / Wideband / Lambda - Zeitronix Wideband - doing that this week.
Tune. - Doing that in a few weeks @ TTP.

THEN maybe I will get cams on the intake side... and another tune down the road...

Make sure your precautionary mods are done FIRST prior to power making mods. This prevents failures and blown engines and what not...

Cams do not make that much power on the IX's.

Cams $600
Tune $250
Springs and Retainers $350
Install $200
Total: $1400 for 10whp

The intercooler will allow you to tune a little more aggressive. The IX cams are fine.

so you make 10 whp....
but you will make a lot more torque....

torque>hp

dont waste money on the intercooler and piping if you dont need it. if anything, get a LICP and then do cams

yes you will make more torque across the board but peak torque it's that much better maybe 10 whp

I'm aware peak numbers mean very little...but the amount of torque that is gained isn't that impressive

imo the amount of torque you gain is not worth the cost of cams

and i respect your opinion
but going with fmic and piping, your probably not even gonna gain as much as cams will net you

and you can get more then 10whp out of mivec cams....

this is all up to the OP, i think he needs to look and see what his plans are with the car and then go from there

Ill say it again, reinforce the I/C piping and reduce the restrictions of a stock Evo first before you do power making mods...

I/C piping, recirculate a better BOV or the stock DV, get an intake and exhaust THEN maybe cams... the intake/ Intercooler piping & exhaust are going to be restricting what benefits your cams would do if you didn't do these below first...

Cams should be last before you do at least these, IMO:

Intake
Full TBE
I/C piping
FMIC
BOV or use the stock DV
MBC / EBC
TUNE

Then when you are bored...

CAMS / CAMS & METH
TUNE

another vote for cams, assuming you have a TBE already

you should really read this thread before asking these types of questions.

i just came off of the same situation but i have no clue of what mods you have done you your car right now..
make sure you have your tbe, intake, 255 fp... and if you do cams might want to put in some arp headstuds for insurance.. and get a tune.
your other question about uicp, ets sells one kinda pricey i settled for a DEJON TOOL uicp works perfect.. dont get much power outta that anyways.
keep the fmic for a bit it hold perfectly fine its just ugly..
class of 08!
