I have never bashed a thread on this or any other forum but this thread could surely use it.. Anybody who is on here that is worried about their gas mileage should be punched in the face and then have their car taken from them.. You got a frickin EVO.. not a civic hybrid. If you wanted a car for good gas mileage then you and your grandma should car pool to work together... I burn through gas like it is water and I love it.. I didnt buy an EVO to get good gas mileage.. There are plenty of people out there who would love to have an evo but cant afford one or it is not practical for them.. If you have to worry about gas mileage then you are in the same group they are..

The best I've done is around 190 miles per tank. 180 miles per tank is normal. And I've loved every single tank!

This ain't no honda, don't drive it like one!

wouldn't gas mileage be dependent on throttle not rpm?

I average 23 mpg and my personal record is 318 miles/tank (13.34 gal). This is normal commute-to-work driving with plenty of rapid acceleration--not wimpy maximum mileage driving. My worst tank was 19.7 mpg with some intense Dragon runs (Hwy 129 in TN/NC).

It's like buying a hummer and complaining about your gas mileage.

My 4g63 is currently misfiring....and just got my worst tank ever. 130 miles and the light popped up. BTW....i have a 16.7 gallon tank, not a 14.0 like the evos. My best was 200 miles which calculated to 18 mpg. The infamous devil that lies within my car drains my wallet and its called boost.

.......Hello, My name is Ankur and I'm a boost addict.

Not necessarily, under high rpms and deceleration, I think your car is under a heavy vacuum state which sucks in air....the more gas you need to mix. Not only that but, the higher the rpms, the faster the cycles of the 4 strokes. The faster the piston moves up and down, the faster and more the gas must be delivered.

6th is approxiamtly 5th...they dont match up 5th for 5th. MR gets worse than what? are you comparing an 8 vs. a 9. My buddy regularly does a few mpg less than me.... I have a 2004 Evo8 and he has a 2006 MR.
