I agree with the Right Foot Theory. The sounds (VTA, spool up) are music to my ears, but the $50 fill ups at the gas pump are not. When I drive, I do it very fast and get about 180 mi on a full tank. Lately, I've been driving without spooling, or spooling up the turbo as little as possible and the difference is dramatic. I'm talking about taking a trip to a friends house and literally watching the needle drop by the time I get there. Without using the turbo, the needle doesn't budge. Less pedal, FTW!! Then you can spend the money you save on (cough, cough) other things

Here in the Valley, 76 is at about $3.27/Gal. Well, it is at a few 76 stations, some are up to $3.37/Gal. There are a few 76 stations here in Fresno that cost the exact same price as Arco does for 91 Oct. But we pay the price with bad air quality.

Lol. I live by the bay. Air quality is not an issue unless my car is on. I love the smell of everything passing through my testpipe.

i dont know what my issue is, or what my Evo's issue is for that matter, but I can NEVER best anything better than 21mpg

I have a WORKS flash with a cat-back and a K&N. Everything else is stock. I have experimented with different gas brands, and I still have no change. It doesnt matter if i am hot rodding it the entire tank, or staying out of boost as much as possible, every trip to the tank i get 21 mpg

you can only lower the boost to the minimum amount your wastegate will let you. I don't think it's 7psi.

back in the early 90's, I saw a infomercial on TV.
They were selling a thing called tornado.
That thing was to give you better gas mileage and a bit more power.

****, I bought two. One for me and one more my dad's car.
I put it on as soon as I received it.
First week, noticed no difference what so ever.
First month, same thing.
There was absolutely no mileage gains/power gains to be seen anywhere.

It's pretty sad but it's just a marketing gimmick.
That was by far the worst $100 I've spent on a car modification if you wanna even call it that.

The only thing that gives you better gas mileage is having the car maintained properly and your right foot.

I think the best devices to increase gas mileage are exhaust and intake (your engine has to do less work to produce the same amount of power). Leaning out the fuel curve probably helps as well, but that is a little dangerous, especially on our cars

Angry My fuel consumption has gone waaay up!

I'm not sure what is happening with my car. I have not noticed any problems with driveability or any other symptom, but my gas mileage has dropped to ridiculous levels. I used to get 20~22 mpg in my regular driving and now I'm getting 17~18 mpg ... I don't know what happened other than I've not been driving my EVO a lot lately and it's been parked a good bit of the time... I have not changed my driving habits (except I've tried to drive more conservatively to improve the fuel consumption). My '05 MR is basically stock except for the XEDE.

Any ideas about what could be happening?

Thanks
