My wife has a brand new Prius that gets 51MPG.

I don't care how many miles per tank I'm getting. I figure I just drive my Evo X to work and back. We take the Prius everywhere else =D.

That's how I am with my girlfriend's car. I have an Evo, she has a Corolla. Unless it's something that she wanted to go to and she is driving, we'll take my Evo... except Vegas trips (since it's much farther and will make a decent difference in price), though I've thought about just using my car before.

~10 "spirited" driving on E85

how are some of these people getting almost twice the MPG suggested by the manufacturer?

Crazy tunes for E85, probably. The 37 mpg number mentioned earlier does seem a bit hard to believe though.

Personally I've seen as high as 30.4 mpg over my tank average in my bone stock IX SE, and even that was pushing it (steady 65-70 mph, A/C off) and has been hard to replicate. But even going from 29 to 30 mpg is hard to do, so 37 mpg is crazy to me.

Not saying that the guy didn't achieve that number -- it's just hard for me to wrap my head around.
