I do a good bit of highway commute to work everyday but I average about
20 mpg. Thats in Florida heat with the a/c cranked.

If I really granny it and stay out of boost for almost the whole tank (impossible to do car is way too much fun) i got 280 miles out of a tank once.

*edit* my car is an 03 model though

I get about 260-270 miles on a full tank, city driving, and that's when I baby the hell out of my car. On the highway it's even lower because it's just too damn tempting to hammer down cause you have full boost on tap at 65 mph at 3 rpms...

w/ gas prices so ...WOW haha ... is it still worth going for such a car .. its a given the thing is like a god hahah .. but i mean the practicality will run thin from what im seeing .... sounds like it makes for a 2 car rotation with a nice econo car and a nice evo =P

Actually it's my "weekend car". I'm too paranoid of parking it at school so its in the garage most of the week while I drive my MX-6. My Evo is bone stock.

I believe premium 91 has gone up to 2.51 by now.

Btw, for us youngsters 18-20 (highschool/college students) the Evo is pretty inacessable financially. You seem pretty young by your picks. Just curious, are your parents planning on helping you/buying a new car?

but from a gas perspective, thats pretty damn good... did they change some parts up or something? ... cause I coulda sworn it was like 20mpg straight up ...
I have an '03, and I get 16-18 around town in the mountains (depending on how much I press the loud pedal and how many mountain roads I attack) and I just got 28 on the highway for 220 miles by staying out of boost except climb a 3000 foot mountain on the Interstate.

My car is stock, in all its pig-rich, sooty glory.

remember that the 04's have a different baseline map than the 03, so that could be the reason why it's listed 18/26mpg

Yeah.. I'm 18 and I'm not really affording the gas. I get about 20 mpg if i SUPER SUPER baby the car, always under 3K and cruise on the road at 2-2.5K. It's super crappy, but I let her rip on the freeways. I'm thinking of getting my M2 and putting the evo on standby (weekend car maybe). At least better mileage? Just need to make sure I don't kill myself.

stop 'n go downtown driving: 18 mpg

highway driving (a la indiana farm country): 28 mpg.

Those aren't approximate figures. I log all fill ups and services.

I like to boost every gear, so I get crappy mileage. I have 03. Some mods do increase gas mileage. Intake/air filter or high flow exhaust. Less restrictive airflow, less effort for the engine to push car...
