anyone notice though that the first 1/2 tank lasts A LOT longer than the lower 1/2? Maybe its how the probe is setup in the tank....I noticed the same thing in my 03...

^^^ I noticed that too. I always think I am getting crazy good gas mileage and then the 2nd half of the tank the gauge drops like a rock.

Yea, I always get 100 on the first quarter. I think all evos have the problem of the fuel gauge not being entirely accurate. I go 100 on the first and then I'm at like 150 or so by the halfway mark.

+1

so what we need is a picture of what you get towards the last quarter tank...no matter what I do, I still even out at 25 mpg at the end of the tank....(this is on a regular commute week with no runs at night)

mine is the same way... i'll be driving after filling the car up and thinking "damn im getting great mileage" next time i start the car its like way lower than when i turned it off, or i'll drive again and it seems to drop a lot faster

Oh ok. Do they tune the low throttle settings? I Used my SAFC to take some fuel away @ 3000RPMS. Its been that way for months now and I have NO engine problems.

You're at least getting 220 with a tank, my is only 200 max with a full tank and no racing.

Fuel economy...

I really love my car. My wife is pissed (not really) that I am getting better gas mileage in my Evo than her 4cyl Galant. I usually don't see anything under 20 & most of the time it's in the 22-23mpg range. This last tank was well over 24mpg which impressed me considering the spirited bursts I had during this tank including one long one on the freeway. She's getting low 20's and my old VQ35 Maxima got 22-23 mpg all of the time. I find it kind of strange that a 4cyl Galant gets worse gas mileage than a Maxima. Oh well just thought I'd share. What do you guys & gals usually get per tank? I got 250 miles out of this tank in city/freeway driving with my CEL on.
