She's getting low 20's and my old VQ35 Maxima got 22-23 mpg all of the time. I find it kind of strange that a 4cyl Galant gets worse gas mileage than a Maxima. Oh well just thought I'd share. What do you guys & gals usually get per tank? I got 250 miles out of this tank in city/freeway driving with my CEL on.

LOL. I envy you.

I got 180 miles to my tank and I patted myself on the back.

I got 27 mpg on one tank in which all I did was drive ~65 mph on straight roads (with the A/C on) to and from work. I was hardly ever in boost, which is really hard to do. I'm planning on getting a catback exhaust and K&N air filter. Together these should enable me to get 28-29 mpg if I drive REALLY carefully. I want to see if I can get 30 mpg just once, even if it means I have to drive 55mph with the A/C turned off. Most of the time, I get about 24-25 mpg with a combination of in-town/freeway driving. But I don't drive the car hard.

I avg around 20, but I am on the boost almost all the time with 282whp on tap. When I have extended periods of highway driving, I get up to 22-23 sometimes, but most of the time I'm around 19-20. I rarely go a full tank without at least one racing event, though (auto-x and/or drag).

For the most part I drive pretty mellow to and back from work. Mostly highway type driving at an avg of 75mph. I get between 280-300 miles per tank. Seems really good compared to others on the board... I really don't give it to much off the line unless I need to . If I drive like an a$$ then I hit about 250.

wouldn't catback and drop in filter make you have less gas mileage than stock? i am stock and was wary of getting even K&N since it might cause me to have lower gas mileage than what i have now.....ave. 24 to 27 mpg

If you avg 24-27mpg, then your Evo is nothing but an over-priced, under-utilized 4-door sedan. If you're also worried about hurting your gas mileage by adding a basic K&N filter, then the aforementioned comment is even more true...

This car isn't meant for gas mileage, it's meant to be driven. Some people just happen to have long commutes that help them to get better avg gas mileage while piling on the miles quickly, but otherwise there's no reason to have 25+mpg as your main concern.,,

This was explained to me as follows: a more free-flowing exhaust (i.e. catback) will actually increase your gas mileage because it is by nature less restrictive than the factory exhaust. The engine will therefore not have to work as hard to expel the exhaust. Your RPM's will drop a little, thus increasing your mpg. This was my experience with my last car (Eclipse). I just got an aftermarket muffler and I gained about 1 mpg. It was louder, of course. The factory exhaust sacrifices efficiency for quietness. If you don't mind a more aggressive sounding exhaust note, get a catback. In no way should it hurt your gas mileage. You will most likely gain some hp as well. And the K&N air filter is also more free-flowing than the OEM air filter (and it never needs to be replaced).

And don't listen too much to those folks who flame you for being concerned about gas mileage. Not everyone races their Evo, in the same way that not every Hummer owner does hardcore off-roading. For a lot of folks it's a really fun daily driver. There is nothing wrong with wanting to save some $ at the pump.
