None, lol

I went to Watkins Glen and in 2 days I had to fill my car up 4 times. that means I got less than 3~4 mpg. each session will almost eat half the tank.

I got about the same, somewhere around 8 mpg (calculated from foggy memory). I spend about $80 per day for racegas when I'm circuit racing...

Why all you guys use race gas when racing?

At the track the 30WHP extra from race gas map (if you have it) wont make a huge difference, except if your car is not tuned correctly then yes you are welcome to use race gas.

I was going to say, 8 mpg sounds pretty good.

I don't use it for power, I use it to give me a nice safety margin, as in 93 Octane map + 104 Unleaded = me not spending half my lap staring at my various gauges and worrying. IMO, racegas on a conservative tune is one of the cheapest insurance policies you can get for your Evo. Of course once the SMART system goes onto my XEDE, it should also net me a few extra ponies w/out sacrificing the safety margin.

With my car it's generally between 4 and 8 mpg depending on the track. At the worst I may see about 25 minutes of full on lapping before I need to pit for gas (at 1/4 tank). There is only one track I drive that's like that - and it's hard on the wallet.

My car is fairly tweaked - Piper rally cams (think HKS 280s) with a ported head, oversized valves, piggy-back, etc., but still on a stock turbo with a 10.5 hotside.

Wow, a lot of you folks get really good mileage compared to what I see. I always re-set the trip when I fill up. I usually get about 45-60 miles per tank. After 5 events this year in the new 05 MR (completely stock), I average 4.1 MPG. I should mention that I NEVER run below 1/4 tank (any more). Not only is it extremely hard on the fuel pump, but the one time I did run below 1/4 tank, I almost wrecked because of it. Coming into turn 5 at MAM in Council Bluffs IA, I had complete fuel starvation after completing my trail braking and (trying) getting back on the gas. After taking my foot off the gas completely, the fuel finally settled back down and I had a HUGE amount of unintended acceleration. This is one of the scariest feelings I've ever experienced in racing conditions. I'll warn all of you to be very careful. I was lucky to regain control. I'll thank the Evo's fantastic steering for saving my ***.

That sucks a**... For some reason I thought you'd get better mpg on race gas. How much does it run /gal where ya'll live or how much to top off the tank? (and for what octane rating)
Does the higher octane = lower mpg? (would you get better mpg from 104 vs 115 or whatever?)

I run a blend of 93 and 104, get about 3-5 mpg depending on track. I pit with about 1/4 tank as well. Fuel surge is not fun, but its a good thing to experience, at least, so you learn your lesson. haha. I think 7-9 is pretty good for track mileage. I guess I just drive hard

If you look at the specs for race gas you'll find most have a low specific gravity, closer to 0.7, while pump gas is closer to 0.8. The energy content of gas is pretty constant on a weight basis, but you buy it by volume. Unleaded race gas uses a lot of oxygenates which is like getting your gas partially used. The faster you go, the more everything costs!
