You are right I forgot about that (open loop vs closed loop mapping) The tuning is done in open loop when the throttle is WOT. Right?

Here is what i experienced on my '03 with 100% city driving:
Bone stock= ~185 miles per tank
264 cams@-2/-2, 3"TB w/HFC, Walbro, K&N drop-in, Vishnu Xflash = ~215 miles per tank
I sold my exhaust
264 cams@-2/-2, Walbro, K&N drop-in, Vishnu Xflash = ~210 miles per tank

My car is slow right now with the stock exhaust

hopefully this gives you some idea.

A 03/04 Evo runs very rich compared to a 05. Mitsubishi cleaned up the maps for the 05, The Works 03 P1 flash mimics the Factory 05 map, This info is straight from Works. My 04 RS rear bumper got very black but the 05 stays clean. I am confident a 03 can gain some MPG my question is if the 05's have seen any gain/loss?

I have a custom flash... never knew the details of a mail-in, but I think a custom is definantly worth the money over a mail-in.

Another strange thing is I know someone with a 03 that gets very good gas mileage. Never has a black bumper and never had a P0300 issue. Go figure? We were driving like idiots in the desert 100 plus MPH and I used twice the gas that he did. I did not think I would make it to the next gas station? I used 1/2 a tank in 100 miles he was at 3/4 tank. I barely made it we were 100 miles from a gas station.

I have a 05 and they already run leaner that a stock 03/04 map?
I think you will find on the dynoflash website that the flash does control boost (taper)

Dirct quote for mail in flash..

"Eliminate boost taper - keeps boost from falling off"

I asked this question in the Works forum, some persons are claiming 4-5 MPG increase, This is good. I just can't see more boost and more MPG unless the boost is increased without touching fuel maps. Maybe I need to ask the Dynoflash guy. Al Sanford?

huh? regardless of whether your flash is a custom or a mail-in, your part throttle driving maps are untouched.

Do you have any links for your information? I would like to see more confirmation of this. This is real good news if it is true.

The way the flash works is closed loop remains 14.6 / 1 as in factory - ideal fr fuel economy if you stay off boost

When you boost it we lean it out significantly which SHOULD get you better gas mileage but in most cases wince we are making more power and burning more air we wind up with about the same gas mileage as a stock car while making 10 - 15 % more power for the same fuel burned

Does this mean I'm running rich if I'm seeing 14.3 on the narrowband during cruising/idle/ect or is it that what I'm seeing is crap

For the '05 model year, Mitsubishi has "cleaned" up their air/fuel ratios.
The new EVOs are running leaner in the higher RPM, higher load range and in the lower RPM, higher load area Mitsubishi has virtually mimicked the '03 '04 WORKS P-series flashes for better/smoother drivability.

The boost for '05 has increased over 1 psi across the board at the peak and where the taper ends. All of the '05 EVOs where we have logged boost on the road and on the dyno exhibit some form of boost spike. Only about a 1/3rd of the '03s and '04s would typically do this. This 10.5T turbo feels more "anxious" than the 9.8T.
