EVO Gas Mileage MPG miles per gallon -- Merge
#1036
EVO gas mileage........
Spec on the evo says:
Gas Mileage:19 mpg city / 26 mpg hwy
Gas tank capacity is about 14 gallon
This = to 266 city /364 hwy miles per full gas tank.
The average I got cruising at 75/80 staying off boost as much as possible is 240-250 . For those getting over 300 what's the secret? You guys leaning it out with an AEM\SAFC or what?

On my last tank I got 338 miles before the light came on. I filled up 12.3 gallons and had driven 359 miles by then.
I seem to be averaging 28-29mpg if I do highway cruising at 70-80 out of boost.
Oh and my mods are: cams, intake, TBE, fuel pump, boost controller and reflash. I noticed a solid 3-4 mpg increase with the cams.
BTW, I shift usually at 2500-3000 in daily driving.

I took a trip to the DSM shootout and i avg. 23-24 mpg and avg speed was 85mph. Im sure it coulda went a bit higher if i wasnt haulin so much ***.
I usually drive about 65% hwy and 35% city and I usually avg. @ 270 to the tank. I hit 296 miles 1 time and i drove 22 miles on the gas light. Put in 13 gallons when filling that up! I can't see getting over 310-320 unless you granny shift at like 2500 rpm or something lol and never go into positive vacuum levels!
Be happy with 250-270!! its the most common
edit: i have a 03 with my ecu tuned pefect APR's on 93 octane

You described my daily driving style to a T...especially with the current gas prices.

i average around 230 out of a full tank without extreme spirited driving. (weekly commute to and from work through the suburbs) my friend with an 03 who lives in the same neighborhood and almost equal driving distance to work says that he averages about the same.
when i drove all highway across the state averaging 80mph i hit around 310 when the light came on. (again no spirited driving) 364 highway must be one long downhill highway without the car even touching a gear.

Thanks and congra to those who average above 250 per tank. I would think the spec of 19/26 mpg should be an average number but it could be a marketing scheme like their warranty

Man gas is killing me. I get about 220 miles in one tank, stupid LA traffic. My car's stock, and I drive like a grandma. If only gas wasn't so expensive and my parking at work wasn't $8/day, I wouldn't be taking the bus to work...

there warranty isnt so bad, mostly it depends on your dealer you use. My dealer is pretty cool for the most part considering mods and what not. They install aftermarket products, but like any warranty in the US any mod that causes a issue with the car, its not covered under the manuf. warranty as it shouldnt. Thats something we all take as a chance, but most get pissed when somethings not covered. If you want a warranty.. stay completly stock!
