EVO Gas Mileage MPG miles per gallon -- Merge
#1442
I think the mileage gets better as the cars age. WhenI first got my car, 4 months ago I was getting less then 200 miles per tank, now I can see the 200 mile mark.
Though I am not getting anything close to 25mpg like some people are posting, even eith conservative driving. The best I got was like 20.

My 03 VIII responded well to better fuel. With Chevron 91 oct I would get 18mpg (70-110 blasts, 75 on avg, miles of stop and go, short shifting (1,3,5, or 2,4) when starting out). Union 76 91oct gas felt a little more responsive, bout same mpg. One time got 90 miles to half tank going to Mammoth with nothing under 100 (cruising at 140).
Mixing 91 with 4-5 gal of 100, would give about 93 oct - even hammering (80-130) mpg would go up to about 20-22mpg, which seems to jive with peeps outside the 91 zone.
MPG got better by about 1-2 after 10K miles, power got lots better too. Drove the 03 for 42K miles...no issues, stock clutch, only had a Fujitsubo DP.
Traded the 03 for an 06 IX MR - MPG with 3K miles is aprox 19, driving it easy (like a commuter) is about 20 on 91 Chevron/Mobil gas. Filled up with Union 76, don't notice much, but MPG went down to 18mpg, must be the ethanol.
Doing the 100oct+91oct fill the IX doesnt respond as much as the VIII, MPG stays about 18-20. The MR is stock.
For comparison, my Legacy GT gets 21-22mpg, and is more fun to drive and has more available torque/power for city driving (it's just "boaty", and a bit vague, but I'm on the Blotenzas still). It's stock still and I've surprised quite a few in that one, I kinda think it would go toe to toe with a stock VIII on the highway (250hp, .29 cd). 14K miles on it and the H4 is nicely broken in, more power than when I started.

hahaha..agreed....if you can afford a 30K+ and a high maintainence car...gas shouldnt be something to complain about. If it is, then just think about how often you have to change the tires, mobil 1 oil changes every 3k miles or 3 months, new brakes, all the other stuff you have worry about and you'll see that gas isnt the biggest thing to worry about.

I'm thinking about shortening up the timer on my Turbo Timer, I think 3 min is a bit too much. Perhaps thats where all my gas are burnt at. But I'm paranoid, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
