If anyone had seen the practice from X games 13 they would understand why he is cautious of the jump.
Last year in practice he landed 1/2 way down the jump and almost rolled it - the acar was in really bad shape (front end damage)... it was very similar to how Ramana rolled his car in the same practice session.
So - last yeat the first round of qualifying he landed the jump perfect, I mean 100% perfect... the next round that was on TV... not so perfect!
Fast forward to this year.
He did not practice the jump mainly because he did not want to ruin the nice NOS wrap on the car in case he landed long again, and I am very sure he did not want to spend three days before X rebuilding the car.
So - there was about a 2 MPH window he had to hit, go over this and you land on the front end and the car flips violently - go under and you case the jump and the car rolls over as it did this year.
There was nothing "wrong" with the way he drove, or the preperation of the car - it simply means Mitsubishi's cannot fly well, to damn front heavy (Last year X games 13 we had 200 lbs of balast in the trunk)....
Hope this helps,
Mike Huml

Too bad either way. And for all the armchair quarterbacks, I think 99% of you would be pissing your pants about hitting a jump like that. That's a huge gap. I don't fault the guy at all for being a bit nervous about it.
