where 2start? couple Q's
hey guys,
as some of u saw, got in a fender bender, got my $,now its time 4 some new parts
currently 05' stock VIII daily driver
goal is decent gaines on stock turbo w/out killing wallet
1st mods im looking at are... AMS/ETS fmic, AMS tbe, K&N drop in(will that work?)
Heres my questions
-Do I need new uip/lip w/fmic or will it be direct replacement?
-Are there any other required mods/purchases to make these 1st upgrades happen?
-Any other suggested upgrades to do @ same time(keeping in mind im not rich )
-is this an install I should tackle myself?(mech inclined/just no experience installing items listed)
thanks guys

You should be able to easily install the intercooler yourself.
Get a FMIC + LICP combo and pick up some T-bolt clamps while your at it.
If you want a UICP, your going to need to buy a mini battery for the piping to fit. This also cleans up the bay a little and saves you some weight.
Drop in intake I would hope you would be able to do yourself
I have the WORKS drop in and like it a lot. But K&N will work well also.
Exhaust you might want a shop to do for you depending on your available tools and knowledge.
Also your going to want a O2 fouler to get rid of that annoying CEL.
Definitely going to want to pick up a Walbro 255 fuel pump and if your budget supports it, get some cams.
Boost gauge, AFR gauge, and boost controller and 02 housing.
Other than that, make sure you get a good tune after everythings in and you are set!

I dont know if I would make my first mod my intercooler. The stock intercooler is pretty good for a while defintly not a first mod. You should be looking at opening up breathing, TBE, or Intake Pipe and filter you will see better gains.
If you have 8 you want to replace your fuel pump for sure, but a nine has a slightly better pump and you can live with it a little longer, but I wouldnt go increasing your boost with out replacing it, they are pretty inexpensive on the forums, like 40 for a used and I think 80 for a new..... worth the investment....
My mod path suggestions
First:
TBE
Intake pipe and filter
Walbro 255
optional tune - you will see better results with a tune
Second:
Cams
IC pipes/ mini-battery (The mini-bat makes the IC pipe routing better and cleans up the engine bay)
you dont nessary need cam gears, majority of the evos I see running around have their $250 adjustible cam gears set at 0 0, waste!
MUST HAVE TUNE b/c of cams
Third:
Boost control
bigger injectors
Inter cooler
maybe a meth kit
MUST HAVE TUNE
Fifth:
turbo kit
defintly a meth kit (aquamist)
MUST HAVE TUNE
At some point throw some gauges etc in there, but im listing stricktly power adding parts
I have seen several people follow this path, its relativly easy on your walet and you will see/feel power gains with every step
