Evo wing less effective than STi? (rally)
I've noticed this before but the recent X Games brought it back to my head. We all know what the street Evo and STi wings look like. In the X Games, the STis run the very same spoilers, while the Evos this year (notably the one that flipped) ran a spoiler similar to the one Mitsu runs on their latest WRC car.
vs
The same can be seen in WRC. While the STi spoiler is definitely different than the street car's, it does at least seem to have some similarity. In fact, I've seen street cars with the WRC spoiler (I think Prodrive sells the entire body kit). While I've yet to see anyone running the Mitsu WRC spoiler on a street Evo (probably because it's hideous ).
Can anyone shed some light on this? Is the street STi wing more effective than ours as it pertains to rally racing? Not that it really matters, of course, but it's a bit disheartening to see Subaru kicking *** in WRC with a car that looks fairly similar to a street STi while Mitsubishi's latest car really looks nothing like the Evo.
