Think old school
Rice-Rod?
or paint it so it looks like it is going soooo fast that the body work is tearing away, exposing the motor on the hood, the inner frame work on the doors, the suspension on the fenders, exec

how extensive and complex can it be?
what colors are desired?
To keep the Military Aviation trend, be simple and clean, and be purposeful for meant intentions (going fast as ****),
A quick thought of mine would be this,
The first manned aircraft to break the sound barrier, and this is fitting of course do to the purpose of this car.
A pinup on the nose with a AMS twist of wording on the body with riveted paneling and call it a day.
You will for sure turn heads because most will right away know what it is representing.
You could make a play of its name, Bell XS-1

Call it the Mitsubishi AM6-0 or the "P-0" (for the P-Zero) It kinda goes along with AMS, the car being from Japan and the car that manufactured it - Mitsubishi!!
You can use the black and red theme as it looks the best IMO!!!
The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a lightweight fighter aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service (IJNAS) from 1940 to 1945. The origin of its official designation was that "A" signified a fighter and "6" for the sixth model built by Mitsubishi ("M"). The A6M was usually referred to by the Allies as the "Zero"—a name that was frequently misapplied to other Japanese fighters, such as the Nakajima Ki-43—as well as other codenames and nicknames, including "Zeke", "Hamp" and "Hap".
Its history mirrored that of the Empire of Japan in World War II. When it was introduced, the Zero was the best carrier-based fighter in the world and it was greatly feared by Allied pilots.[1][2][3] The IJNAS also frequently used the type as a land-based fighter. A combination of excellent maneuverability and very long range made it one of the finest fighters of its era. In early combat operations, the Zero gained a legendary reputation, outclassing its contemporaries.
Iin keeping of the P-Zero heritage, each "kill" post a sticker on the side door for each event or car "killed" in an event.
G/L on the events no matter what theme AMS and the car owner choose

Another possibility, since the car is already red.
The Red Baron
Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen (2 May 1892 – 21 April 1918) was a German fighter pilot known as "The Red Baron". He was the most successful flying ace of World War I, being officially credited with 80 confirmed air combat victories! You can even still put the confirmed "kills:" on the side of the car.

I keep coming up with ideas:
If you guys want to stay with the U.S. themed plane/cars, a GREAT one would be a theme of the USAF Thunderbirds. I used to see these guys at local Air Force bases my family and I were stationed at:
Firebird - 01

So is the main color of the car going to stay red?
How about something with the textured look of the Salt Flats:
or since the car will be running in the deserts of Utah, Marines digital desert camo:
