I have always loved the camo pattern on the SU 27s:

A black/grey/white or blue/grey camo would continue your fighter Jet/jolly roger/stealth fighter theme in a fresh way. The patterns are simple enough to design and paint but still visually interesting. The fighter jets with those prints have always looked very bold yet stealthy, which sounds like a good look for Tommy's car. If he has his heart set on red you could easily make a Red/Black/White pattern which would be less stealthy and more blingy, you can even do it entirely with vynils and keep the red paint sitting pretty underneath. If you've got a high res side shot of the car you can send me i'll gladly photoshop a few mockups for ya.

I was thinking something like a nuclear boom. Like if the car was going to come out like its just going to boom away any one that stands in its way. Since your still keeping the car red notice how the when a nuclear boom goes off the it turns
into a very intense red better shown at night. Thats where the black and cf could come into play. The inside of the car looks like the old WWII aircraft. So the inside of the car would be the aircraft thats about to drop the boom on the rest and the outside will show the aftermath once its droped.

you could have the paint tearing away like you were going to fast, but instead of showing car internals under the torn paint have a jet engine or jet parts under the torn paint. so i looks like the paints tearing off and its really a jet underneath.

I say stay away from the tradition and go hello kitty style.
