well thansk for all this encouragement guys!! I definitely want to enjoy the car, but that doesn't involve launching to me. And I'd really like to get to the 375 whp if no the 400, so hopefuly I can achieve that for relatively cheap too.

are you sure it has a Mellon Tune? I've caught a few guys selling cars claim to have my tune in it and I never worked with them before. you may want to PM me the previous owners name to make sure.

i'm still running on stock clutch and i'm almost at 40k miles. Still running fine with 337 awhp..dynodynamics.
i've never launched my car though since i've gotten it. I got it with 30k miles.

I destroyed my clutch the first night to the dragstrip. That was basically the only time I was planning on hitting the 1/4, but doing back to back launches on the stock clutch was a quick way to end its life. I think I ended up with about 11 passes that night and the car had about 12k miles on it and was completely stock.
I do mostly AutoX and road race and my Excedy twin is holding up just fine.

the #1 cause of EVO clutch deaths in america are owners who can't drive. I got 70k+ out of my stocker before it slipped for the first time. i put plenty of launches, races, autocrosses, and daily beatings, and it held fine. the clutch will last as long as you let it last.

If you don't ever launch and drive a stick well it should last you over 40k.
I have been running e85 for over 25k and over 350tq on a dyno dynamics dyno (425+tq dynojet) and my clutch is still holding at 38k miles.
I am replacing the clutch however as the one time I launched it at the track the clutch started to slip.

I'm still on the stock clutch. It has about 15 hard launches on it and still feels like new. I cannot launch it off the stationary rev limiter with r-compounds. It simply cannot put the power to the ground but on the stock advans it can pull consistent 1.6 60ft times.
If it makes any difference a clutch job really isn't that big of a deal. I'm sure there is a local EVO guru in your area that would be more than willing to install a new clutch for a couple hundred bucks.

that's a load of crap. if you can drive, you can get a lot more than 30k out of it with spirited driving. i drive my car about as spiritedly as you can get without being illegal (and sometimes illegal lol) and i got 70k out of mine.
