Sounds like clutch to me. Did you check your turbo for mouse blood?
Brakes and clutches are usually made out of the same material. You didn't mention you were leaking anything (so i don't think it's transmission fluid which can smell nasty as hell), so that leads me to say clutch as well. It may be in break-in mode still, still trying to get seated properly. I hope you didn't blue groove your flywheel.

my dad moved my car up 10 feet while i was away and i smelt a nasty burning smell wen i came home coming out of the vent in hood. i opened the hood and it smells right over the intake/ transmiission battery side. i drove it and it kept smelling but car drives perfect. He hosed it down before i got home. The exhaust is like two weeks old but this smells like burning rubber. WHat do you think it is?

Reviving an old thread. I have that problem now also. I had my #2 fuel injector stick open at 100% and flooded the cylinder. To make a long story short...stockers put back in, drove easy for a good 200 miles, drove hard one time for 2 min and now the burning rubber smell on startup and shutdown. Very faint after driving and idling.
