My neighbor got a call just like this from Ford about his lightning pickup. They paid him more for it than he bought it for even after putting 20k miles on it.

Every dealer does this.. Its to get you interested in buying a new vehicle and earning repeat business.. Not saying you won't get a good deal but every dealer does it..

I work at mitsu..

Think about it like this. If I made money off you in 2007. Why not roll the dice and see if I can do it again in 2008 or 2009? It cost me nothing to call and find out. All I need is a nice sales pitch to get you to listen to me. Once you start doing that, anything can happen.

FYI-Mitsu could careless about how you are doing but they do love your money Be careful. .

^ Hit the nail on the head.

A lot of car salesmen call and ask for referrals, sometimes if those salespeople quit or get fired, your number is given to another salesperson to call. If a salesperson is smart, they call to build a relationship to get future business from you and people you recommend. The best salespeople I know are great people and give fair deals to everyone and then ask you to recommend them if you are happy with their service.

I got one of those things in the mail, talkin about how they wanted to buy my 86 Ford pickup back for more then double then what is worth.....

I figured what the hell, lets get a good laugh... I drove my truck there and handed the salesman the form and watched him stare at my truck for 20 minutes....

He goes, so whats this thing worth.... I told him i had over 30gs into just the truck, not including the price i bought the truck for.....(its got a 500hp 460 v8, on 40" tires..)

He laughed, and told me they wouldnt double it... stupid marketing scam....

I've had my Evo for 4 1/2 years and at least twice a year I get a thing from Mitsu in the mail stating that same crap. Funny thing was I walked off the lot with a brand new '04 BBY VIII with only delivery miles for 28K. They didn't even finance me, my bank did so the only money they made on me was markup for the vehicle. They always say they will give you top dollar for your trade-in and will give you "X" amount off of any new model you choose. Just tryin to make money off of you.

Mark Mitsubishi blows A$$. My salesmen was this foreign dude that promised all this stuff never came through. Normal story for car dealerships but I also hated the first time I met the service manager there. I wanted to reach across the desk and cut his tiny little head off his pressed shirt.

But anyway, I learned that a promise means nothing unless it's in writing.
