Knocking noise, looking for clues
Car is an 03 Evo with 21K mi

Here's my partial modlist:

HKS EVC boost controller
GSC 272 cams
HKS cam gears
Walbro 255 pump
ARP headstuds
Perrin TBE catless
HKS Intake
ECU reflash


Here's my problem. Every time I start the car there is a loud knocking/ticking noise that kinda sounds like spark and it doesn't go away when revved. Car keeps throwing the random misfire code. Recent compression check came up to 160,180,180,180

I already changed my plugs and gapped them to spec and I also changed my plug wires to RalliArt ones with no change. Anybody have any ideas?

Do a leakdown test on the cylinder that is reading lower than normal. Did you bleed your lifters?

I bought the car just like this and it didn't have this problem until it got delivered to my house. I haven't even driven it since I got it.

Problem ended up being a couple collapsed lifters due to previous owners mistake when installing cams. Compression is back up in cyl #1

did the speed of the ticking increase with revs too? i'm having a simulacra problem and seeing if it's the same...
