Do dealers Modify Evos before selling them?

i just got the carfax done on my car and it says im the 1st owner, this puzzles me because i bought the car from a smaller dealer who bought it from an auction. The reason i think this is odd is because i bought the car with 6000 miles on it and it already had injen upper inter cooler piping, an injen intake, short shifter and auto meter gauges relocated to up top. I'm baffled so any info you might have would be great

its not a fq series car as they were not imported here. its not a buschur car, otherwise it would have their parts on it. either the dealership that sold it to auction modified it and used it as a dealer car (unlikely), or carfax is wrong, and the previous owner modded the car.

Some dealers will modify their own vehicles with aftermarket parts/ accessories that they may sell through their parts dept. This gives the customer a visual catalog of what's available for sale. Ever notice dealerships with lowered cars & wheels? Lifted trucks with big tires? A lot of times, these modded cars are sold to customers who would rather buy the vehicle with the mods rather than to do the mods themselves. In your case, I would guess that this was one of these cars, or maybe a salesman's demo? Boss's car? Parts delivery car? Courtesy car?

I'll bet it sat on the mitsu lot and never sold so they auctioned it and a smaller dealer picked it up. He probably drove it around and did some mods then sold it to you. Just a SWAG.... I know my Local Mitsu dealership had a red EVO for a LONG time. They even took it to the strip a few times. Not sure what happend to it but i never see it so i don't think anyone bought it. (I live in a pretty small town area)

may have been titled in another state? and/or re-titled for MA/NH...

who knows? Maybe the owner of the first dealership let his kid mod/drive the car and sold it to auction as a "demo" model.

Car fax is not always correct.

I can show you proof if you really want it. I am the 3rd owner of my Dodge Dakota and I know this. I bought it from a friend of mine who bought it from the original owner so I know the history.

Car fax does not show my friend ever owning the truck, and he did for 4 years. The title was in his name along with all the proper registration.

I also had another car that got totalled. I got the money for it and insurance towed it away, sold it off and now it is back on the road with no history of it being totalled.
