My best friend has a 335i and its stock. The car only has 23k miles on it and it's in the dealer almost every week. I will try to get hiim to put pictures of the things that went wrong with this car. He got a new engine since they could not figure out what was wrong with the old one. He hates the car and he is getting rid of it fro Evo X GSR. Performance wise it's not all that good. I ran him with my Stock IX and took him easily. BMW is one of the worst cars in the world when it come to riability.

335i: $40-50K
Faster straight line with basic mods than a typical modded IX (flash, exh, int....)
Nicer interior
Quieter and more luxurious, rides smoother
Easier to drive, streetability, more low end grunt.
A nice set of wheels = BALLER status
Chicks dig it, inside or outside the car
Probably better customer service from the dealer especially with warranty issues
Evo: $30-40k
Handles better with or without mods
Larger backseats
Cheaper to purchase and maintain (ie..reliable)
A nice set of wheels = RICER status
Higher depreciation
Noisy
Dudes dig it
Mitsu customer service will probably tell you youre SOL !

or stock bmw 335i?
stock for stock assumptions...
1.which is faster - 335i, but all bets are off once you start modding.
a. staright line - 335i
b. around track - evo, hands down
2.which has better handling
a. street - evo
b. track - evo
3. more practical - depends on what you're looking for, bmw combines fantastic looks, great interior, good mod potential, albeit very expensive if you get anything other than a piggy-back....a block costs $16K!!!! evo is 4 doors, tons of room, cheaper to maintain....i think the evo is a bit more practical.
4.better deal - bmw's are over-priced no doubt so i'd go with an evo to own, bmw to lease since german cars are terrible for upkeep once the warranty period is over. Even now, fuel pump failures are RAMPANT and wastegate issues are out there as well...cars with 1K miles on them are stranded on the road or have long cranks/half power due to brand new fuel pumps failing...and they haven't even fixed the design, just give you a re-worked one. Definitely a kick in the ***** when you pay 45K for a car and floor mats aren't even free...
5.more bang for your buck - evo, cheaper to buy, way cheaper to mod, but you're lumped in with rice-rockets, and def isn't as sexy as the beamer.
6. any other reasons...
The beamer is a way different type of experience than the evo. The beamer feels refined, inside and out. The handling is very good, but you don't "feel" the road like you do in the evo. the bmw steering is very good, but not as good as even my 03 evo. sport suspension still hammers your ***, but is a slightly more comfortable ride than the evo, even with the stock 19's i have on my 335i.
I love my bmw, but i miss the "kick in the pants" of the power coming on in the evo. That being said, there's no lag in the 335i so it really depends on how you like your power served. I have a piggyback in mine making approx 340whp and the thing is very fast and would compete with most light-medium modded cars.
Bottom line: I'd keep the bmw if it weren't so expensive to maintain, I'd love an evo if the stigma didn't come with it...both fantastic cars but it depends on what you prioritize in your driving experience.
to answer your question about who would win, leave off the damn bov and gauge when asking, that doesn't give you power....I'd say you'd probably pull the bmw slightly, though it wouldn't be a beating since it's only an exhaust, an intake (and since you haven't mentioned a tune it's not going to help you with just a tune and no intake) and hotside.

get the 335i and drive it until something breaks. then, with the money you put into modding and fixing it, you can save that and buy the evo then. BMW=garbage. sorry. i know alot of people don't like to hear that but it's true. my moms 03 3 series sunroof motor just burned out last night. $3-4000 to repair. LOL. on top of the altenator and battery they wanted $1700 to fix. LOL. and the value of the car is @ less than $9000. LOL.

If it's a Daily Driver and occasional spirited driving, my vote goes to the BMW. The BMW is just good when it come to combining comfort with sports.
However, on the track, the Evo will dominate.
The BMW is a great car to drive but crappy car to own. The maintenance is ridiculous. I hate the maintenance light on the dash. You can't just ignore it and you basically have to bring it to BMW to reset it. Plus every so often, you have to bring it to the dealer for full inspection that cost $500 - $600, and all they do is take a look at it.
