its all about what you want. I actually came from modding my 2000 Audi A6 2.7T with a 6spd to an evo. I have the ssl package on mine and love it. your right, theres a big difference between the audi and evo interior, which is why i do like the leather. also love having a sunroof, much less "crowded" feeling, more like an audi. in the end its all up to you, but like others said, dont just buy it bc its a "mr". where about philly are you from? gl with the decision bro

Do you regret the decsion? YOu have the same motor as i have in my S4 so you know what it's like to mod it. My S4 is full stage 2.. My audi had the alcantera so i like that in the MR.

I live in Glenside...

Differences between an MR and a GSR:
MR has HIDS, aluminum roof (that is over 40 lbs lighter than the sunroof), bilstein suspension, light weight 17 inch BBS wheels, triple gauge pack inside (boost, oil & amp), and of course the 6 speed, vortex generator and Zero Lift kit.

Alot of people hate on the 6 speed, saying that it's weaker, and to a point it is, if you plan on building a monster track car. If you plan on keeping it simple and sticking to bolt ons and what not, the 6 speed is great, even more so if its a DD.

Personally, I love my MR. I came from Euro cars to, have had everything from an 86 GTI 16V turbo to an R32 and an A4, but I love the Evo the best out of all of them.

As far as the sunroof goes, I would say forget it, put the windows down and you will be happy, my .02 to you sir, get either an SE (has all the MR features including the roof and HIDs minus the vortex generator and gauges) if you want a 5 speed that you want to build into a monster, get the MR is you want a fun bolt on + daily driving beast.

Best of luck.

Ajay

depends, SE's can be hard to find, just keep a look out on the cars for sale forum or check cars.com, thats where I found my baby, and bought it while I was in Iraq too!

oh nice man i live just like 10 mins outside the city. yea i miss my audi. purely bc it was a torque monster and was a totally different scene than imports. but, like you said, working on an audi is a HUEG PITA. i love my evo, so its just natural progression. my evo is lightly modded and a dd as well. i love it. having the leather and the sunroof isnt huge, but coming from an audi it made the transition much easier. felt a little more luxurious than it really is. the leather and alacantra is beautiful and the mr's interior is very similiar like you said. you should definately sit in both and see which one you like more. i was just down your way this past weekend actually, how soon you looking to get ur evo?

As soon as the S4 sells I will pull the trigger on the Evo. So should be soon. I found a WW MR that I really like. Light mods.

I will miss the TQ of the S4. Thing put down 300atw with 361 tq. But after driving my girls DSM (95 GSX) 6 bolt swap it was like I was 16 again in my supra... Just that rush...

As far as the Euro scene it has changed.. I still have my R32 so i will always be a dubber for life.. I goto alot of local meets but I have seen what the import community has to offer as well. Seems to be alot more helpful with the DIY stuff and easier to find parts ect.

I am excited to make the change. Just wish the S4 would sell already...

I wanted everything on the MR but the 6-speed. Unfortunately I wouldn't have ever been happy knowing I have a weak tranny that could potentially break while driving it hard even without 500 hp...

It seems to be a growing trend for most of the people who just joined the forum to want MRs and I feel like it's because you think because the MR was more expensive and had black badges that it is somehow the ulti.mate evo...

The ultimate package is in fact the SE, but because I wanted white that was not an option. I will be buying hids, jdm headlights, and probably SE wheels. This will cost me about 2k and I'll my favorite color and all of the options I wanted. Of course I won't have the aluminum roof... but I think I can live...

I too am still a dubber, I just like the import scene better, well the Evo side anyway. I hated how alot of the dubbers I knew all seemed to have a hair accross their asses. So many seemed stuck up and never drove their cars hard for fear of messing them up. Me, I'm all about driving. If the Evo wasn't so damn beautiful as it is I wouldn't care if she got dinged up here and there. No biggie, shows that I use her for what she is ment for. Either way, I don't miss the VW scene all that much, I still have one and might buy a nice MKIII GTi for a daily, who knows though.

Grrr, yet another hear/sayer with the MR tranny. I can't wait to have 100k plus on my car with the stock tranny. There is another guy on here with an 06 MR that does AutoX and drag racing and he has the stock tranny and had the stock clutch up to 70k, now he's at 106 and still has the stock tranny with an exedy stage 1. What happened to the MR tranny being so weak? It's all how you drive it.

If your an idiot, your gonna break ****, period.

If you plan on atleast maxing out the stock turbo, the MR is not for you.
