Mr Vs Ssl

The MR has the same seat as the GSR and RS, and the only seat difference in the SE edition was the red stiching. Their was no GSR SSL SE, you could get GSR SE, but not with the SSL package.

No badging for the SSL. The Wikipedia entry on Evos lists all the differences in the SSL models, at least for the IX. Beyond the sub in the trunk (and a cut-out in the trunk carpeting for it) and the sunroof, some notable differences include leather door panel inserts, leather seats, leather on the center console's hinged cover, separate removable headrests in back, a different style of folding arm rest in back, no sunglasses holder in the headliner, and an amp under the driver's seat ...

I have owned both the MR (VIII) and a 2006 (SSL). I prefer the leather Recaro seats and sunroof over the MR. I like the open-air feel when driving during the day/night.
Also, the 5 spd. is a more stout transmission. I like the extra gear of the MR when cruising on the highway, but it's not really as bad as some people make it out to be in the SSL not having the extra gear. Car & Driver did a review of all 3 cars (MR, SSL, RS) around a track and the differences were so negligible in lap times between the cars that the lightweight aluminum roof and bilsteins made little difference.
If you don't want the "luxury items" of the SSL then go with the MR, otherwise you won't regreat the nice leather Recaro seats and the sunroof of the SSL. I don't miss my MR as much as I would if I got rid of my SSL.

If you do alot of Highway driving then the MR is the way to go. I have an SSL and the creature comforts are nice but it sucks being on the highway in boost the entire trip... Well sucks gas but is still fun as hell to drive.
