Bought a floor jack from Sears
I went through the tool section of Sears today and they had a 3.5 ton floor jack with 2 jackstands for $75, so I bought it with the idea that I could do my own tire rotations on the EVO.
So I decide to read the intructions (what a concept) and I run across this warning for the jackstands... "Use as a matched pair to support one end of the vehicle only. Stands are not to be used to simultaneously support both ends or one side of a vehicle."
Of course I need to support one side only to rotate the tires front to back on the same side. Does anybody know the reason why this is not recommended? Anything wrong with buying 4 jackstands and lifting rear from diff - place two stands, lift front from jacking point - place two stands and have all 4 wheels off the ground together?

I have been putting a car up on four Craftsman (assuming that is what you have) for years and never had a single problem. Just dont ram the car at full speed while it is up on them and you should have no problems.

Since we're on the topic, anyone have experience with the lightweight aluminum jackstands from harbor freight? I don't mind paying $150 for a light jackstand, but I want to make sure the thing is going to last.

Harbor Freight's stuff is REALLY nice. I wish I could afforded a set at the time I bought mine. I have a good friend with a set of their jack stands and their jack that uses for his Z06 since it is so low. I would definetly recommend them if you have the money to spend.

Guy, read the warning again....
its saying that you shouldnt be using the two stands to lift the WHOLE car
ie, one jackstand on the front, one jackstand on the back....
if you use 4 your golden
