my crazy night on the side of the road
ok so there i was driving back home after seeing Sex Drive (great movie btw) im on the highway and decide to get on the boost and all of a sudden i hear POW! i knew immediately that it was an intercooler pipe that had slipped out of its coupler. anyways so i call roadside assistance because i just wanted to report that i was in need of help just in case it was something worse. so im sitting there in my dead car for about 20 minutes and get fed up with the idea that its going to take me all night to get home. so i decided to take measures into my own hands and try and locate and fix the damn thing myself. so imagine me out in the cold on the side of the highway with hardly any ambient light, using my cell phone as a flashlight while i take off my front bumper to help locate the pipe that had slipped out. turns out it was the turbo to licp area.
I LIVE IN VIRGINIA it was really cold last night!
it took me about 1.5 hours to completely fix the issue and man it was cold as hell out there. so i managed to take the bumper off, lift the car up, fix the licp reinstall the bumper, lower the car, and drive away all before the tow truck could get there... im so pissed...

Yeah, It sucks to blow an intercooler hose. It's never an easy one like the uicp in the engine compartment. After I was stuck on the side of a busy freeway fixing my intercooler pipe/hose I made sure it would never happen again. I later replaced all my hose clamps with T-Clamps and sealed them with hairspray. Knock on wood, I've never blown a hose again.

Same happened to me too, on my way home from work at 1am.. [LICP>FMIC]
Used duct tape to limp home..
Worked like a champ.
I carry a roll just for that in my tool case in the trunk + I went to all constant torque T-clamps.
Big ups to the OP for taking the bumper off on the side of the road in the dark..
Not Fun at all.

He's just lucky he didn't lose the clamp. As far as bumpers go when the flatbed came to pick up my car due to a blown oil cooler hose he was pleasently surprised to find i had already taken the bumper off. I have just moved from Jersey to PA and it's bone chilling here. All the more reason i gota get rid of the dsm daily and get myself a nice lil honda to daily grind.
