I understand there's a bragging rights side, but what I don't understand is why have 400+whp at all? I mean racing on the street aside which is very unsafe, it's just as unsafe to have that much HP on that track. Chances are if you're only driving it on the street and do maybe one track day a year it seems like a waste.
I kindofcatch your drift, that is, if what your saying is why have a 400hp car if your not going to flog the **** out of it. Well, I'll agree. As far as the whole track/street thing, thats a whole different subject entirely, but it's not like 1) the track is the safest outlet 100% to flog your car and 2) a 400+hp car cannot be enjoyed on the street.
If you think otherwise, I would say sell your car, stop wasting money on performance cars, and buy a Toyota Prius and enjoy point a to point b commuting and great fuel economy.

All I know is, 301whp is NOT enough! I was driving my car in the rain last night, turned onto a side street and went WOT in first gear. The back end got all fishey and I had to fight in back into control. I love it. I can't do it in the dry with my Z1's. With all-season I can. But until I have to fight traction in AWD on dry pavment, I'm not happy
Ohh, and my car has NEVER been tracked, unfortunatly. I can't afford to, and most of my friends either aren't into track day's, they don't have a fast car, or my one buddies STi is currently sitting without a motor

I guess depending on your lifestyle and surroundings, 400 may be a lot in some places. However for example here in Miami if you have 400 hp your are on the slow end of street cars (when comparing to other modified cars).
So in regards to safety it may not be safe, but i hope everyone who has 500+ at least understands what they have and will use better judgment on when to open the car up and go WOT.
When i drive my car, i drive at 550 awhp on pump, or more when i get lucky and buy race gas. I'm not really a track guy either so i didn't build it for the track. Although i plan to go a few times to have fun.
So its just preference and how much you want to spend on your car.

400hp is just a stepping stone. I prefer a 500hp daily driver.
Nah seriously, there is nothing like having that type of HP at your beck and call. Is it boost addiction ? Probably. I just like to know that while I am riding down a block that I could destroy every car in a 5 mile radius.

I drive my car everyday...I've put about 6000 miles on it in less than 2 months. At the time I got the car we did a built motor and 40r, the car was making around 550 on pump and meth on a conservative tune since I was driving it so often.
I tore it apart and put it back on stock turbo until I pick up an HTA 35. I want it to make 6-700 on race gas on the new setup...why...because I want to. I like and always have driving a car that when someone gets into it they're more than impressed...they don't say wow that's fast. They simply say OH F***!! and are left speechless until they get out of the car again. It's not for bragging rights or anyone else, I don't like to speed and I don't act stupid...I simply like it and I'm not happy until it happens.
