Reviving this thread from the dead

How is the paint quality on the rexpeed VG's? I have had an un-painted OEM VG sitting in my closest for almost 4 years, and finally want to install it.. A well respected body shop around me wanted to charged me $200 to paint it, so I don't know if it's worth it when I could buy 2 rexpeed VG's for that price.

Well,

before i say this, i do not have anything against Rexpeed and their products.

However i must say some of the rexpeed carbon stuff is questionable.

The carbon is not of extreme high quality.

It does the job but some things like the front licence plate holder which is carbon… weighs a TONNE… where the factory plastic one is much much much lighter than their carbon.

Also at the end of the day… sometimes you get for what you pay.

if you wanna go cheap…
then it would be wrong for you to complain about fitment.

mitsubishi OEM parts fitment will undisputed. (unless your roof is dented or warped)

I've had the rexspeed VG on since December of '08 on my BBY '03.

The fitment of the VG was great. Easy to put on and haven't had an issue since.

The paint has faded faster than any other paint on the car (except the clearcoat on the rear wing). I'll post a picture of it later today. For 3 years ('10-'12) the car was kept under cover and not driven while I was overseas. The other years, it's been kept in California and not garaged.

Your mileage may vary, but be aware that it will need painting again at some point.

That would be helpful thanks!

For the difference in price I think I'd be ok with maybe having to repaint in 6 years

i have a .pdf file from Mitsu that shows the R&D that went into the vortex generator. everything is engineered from the shape of the vanes to their angle, width, etc. it's the most efficient design they could come up with and has wind tunnel testing to prove it.

i highly doubt the Rexspeed is anywhere near OEM.

however, if it's for looks then Rexspeed is the way to go.
