if the 335 engine was in my nissan Z, I would have kept it. But all around, the evo X is more practical. Its a sport car in a sedan. So far I'm enjoying my MR. Cant wait till I pass my break in period

335i is a great car but...
Cmon, handling it feels like a boat compared to the STi or EVO.
If BMW could do something to bring the 335i shifting closer to the M3, that would solve one of my issues. When you have a choice of jerky paddle shifting and shifting a stick through jello, the choice is clear for me. Iv'e heard the shifting is a bit more solid on the 1 series but haven't tried that out yet.
No doubt the 335i is an incredible car. And in the next few years I could see getting another one once I've converted the MR to E85. But when value and $$ enter the equation, there really is no comparison. The twin turbo v6 is very addictive, just a test drive and you are hooked. BUT... for my PERSONAL taste, the drive just got boring. YAY... it has monster power... but so does a mustang. I honestly think the xi is the way to go.

I would love a 335i. They are sweet. Nice looking, and power to match. I would think the handling issues could be addressed. The gearbox sounds a little iffy, but it's not like the evo gearbox is so special.

sigh...
Sorry bro... I think someone may have some reading issues. Look at the title, then look at the first line of my post... Then we can talk math and english.
Title:"From wrx to sti to 335i to evo9mr"
"Yep, that has been my path over the past 7 years or so. Having most recently gone from a 2005 STi to an 2008 335i and now driving an evo9mr... "
I actually went from a wrx to an to sti to an sti to a 335i to an evo. In between I did buy a 2006 Forester, but that is my utility BEAST.
Here is how it went... And yes it is rare for me to keep a car for longer than 2 years...
2002 WRX
2004 STi
2005 STi
(2006 Subaru Forester modded so it is basically an STi that looks like a lunchbox. I'm keeping this one. In the straights it will dust my stock MR but once you hit a turn Forester go sideways Great fun at the track )
2008 335i
2006 EVO9 MR- First used car I have ever bought. But, I trust the source...

MMMMM Handling...
The evo just has perfect balance. No more STi Understeer and no more BMW DTC/DSC telling you what to do.
What I am talking about is the raw driving experience... and that is where the evo really just rips all others to shreds.
Yes the STi and 335i are great cars in their own right. If I had 65k that I needed to burn, I'd get an M3, well I'd probably really just drop 10k into an EVO at this point .
But modding a 335i to your own specs is just plain $$$$. It is a great sport luxury car. But I want to be connected with the road and skeet skeet skeet every time I accelerate into a turn. Yes, I know it does mean you gotta travel with lot of tissue...

To each his own...
Each driver has his or her own wants and needs. I think in this process of owning so many cars, I have come to know what I REALLY want (works the same with women I have found )
The 335i is like the hot/model/high maintenance girlfriend. When you are sitting in those smooth dakota leather seats and chillin in traffic, you feel like a pimp. Till you gotta pay for maintenance, then you gotta drop some serious cash to make her happy with a 8K Louis Vuitton purse.
The STi is like the booty call when you are wasted on a saturday nite. You keep going back to her but when you wake up in the morning, you can't remember why...
The EVO is like my perfect woman... well balanced, spontaneous when you want her to be but otherwise smooth throughout the powerband. Each time you are with her, she remembers how you like it and you are left drooling for more... oh wait where was I going with this...
Anyway these are all really cool cars... just not all for me. Test drives are nice, but for me it takes at least a year with a car to know it well... just like a good woman...
