I had the same idea a while back and set off designing my own 90 degree rotated battery tray. Turns out the gains from putting a smaller battery in sideways (layed over on it's side) is better for center of gravity (minimally) and weight.I still have my design for the rotated battery tray around here somewhere. Let me know and I could try to make one before I move and lose access to my machine shop and welding shop.

I also have the ETS uicp with stock battery and it works great. I didn't want to get a mini battery so my only option was ETS. The greatest benefit to getting a uicp is that it eliminates the flex of the stock piping during hard boost. I noticed my stock piping would expand to a great amount when it was on the dyno. There is bound to be leaks during this time so I replaced mine. There are negligible performance gains with replacing your uicp but it helps with preventing boost leaks.

That's the thread, but I think the OP is out of the evo scene. I had a few questions about the install and didn't get a reply back.

What I really want is the hks branded uicp on the fq series cars. Seem to be one off kansai service pieces and are not available for purchase! ETS all the way. Support a vendor and get a kick *** piece.
