Does it really bother anyone??

I understand not wanting to DD in winter, but I can't go all winter without driving the evo, I'd miss it too much. Just wash out the undercarriage every couple of weeks. Plus there's tons of stuff on the road that can damage the car at any time of year (gaping potholes, debris, tailgaters), but that shouldn't stop you from taking it out.

Back in 04 when I had my mint cond SRT4 I swore I would not take it into the snow, but to my surprise I got caught out in a snow storm once and from that point on the entire engine bay started rusting. No matter what i did there was always this powdery white residue that i could never ever get off of the intake manifold etc etc....
so now with the EVO, I prefer not to drive it in the snow to avoid this corrosion from happening. Yes i know I am missing out on the awesomeness of AWD in the snow.... but I'll be using the beater for snow driving

I'm not driving mine this winter, atleast not all the time, because I'm to lazy and cheap to switch from my falkens back to snow tires. I'd rather save the money for parts for next season. Plus I have a DD to go to work.

I'm not sure what everyone is worried about. I'm more worried about someone hitting me than rust forming. Yes, the under body will take a beating from the salt, but does the paint on this car look like it's been through 4+ winters?

Well it has! Here in South Dakota we get plenty of snow, and I daily drive my evo almost 20 miles a day during the winter.
If you take care of the car during the winter, it'll be just fine. I've had countless people ask me if my car has been repainted, but it's still the original paint. Just well taken care of!
Wash it frequently and if it does get warm for a day, try and get a good coat or two of wax on!!! Then in the early spring break out the polisher! ![Big Grin](https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I think I have more fun in the snow with the evo than auto-xing this thing during the spring/summer!

I daily drive it all year round.... In 10 years it isn't going to be worth crap anyway. Might as well enjoy it. If I want another one down I'll buy someone's car that has been garage in the winter and already has 400hp.
