EVO Security System With Cameras

It need not be said that the EVO is an investment worth protecting. I'm sure everyone has at least thought about if not already bought a security system. I know I have. I had a thought the other night. Is there a security system that could be interfaced with the Vuz racing cameras so thought if the alarm was triggered the cameras started recording. This way, even if it was keyed or whatever, hopefully you would have a shot of someone's face or license plate, or some other identifiable object. Not completely sure how the two systems would work together. Anyone have any information?

sure it could be done. I'm not 100% familiar w/ the vuz system, but i was considerign doing this with generic low light capable cameras and a wireless video transmitter.. I was more worried abot my car being messed with in my apt parking lot. if you just want to record then it's simply a matter of using the triggered output signal from the alarm to start a recording device. The problem is, where to put camera's, and what to use as recording device.. Optimally you want to record a few views at a time, b/c one camera, especially on the car itself (as opposed to outside of the car giving you birds eye view of it) will not see enough to be of any value. does vuz offer a multi-channel recorder? if not i'd reccomend a digital video recorder, with at least 4 inputs that it can record simultaneously. I'd reccommend a camera looking from dash to the driver seat and driver window, and a camera looking along each side of the car (life mounted on th front bumper, looking down the driver and passenger side to the back of it). then maybe another that has a genral view of passenger cabin.

I'd reccomend as an easier solution to figure out where you're most worried about car, and try to set up a camera there (like an apt parking lot, or your driveway, etc. ) mounting so many cameras on your car will look bad, and be more prone to failure.

I do security systems (including cameras) for govt. buildings for a living, so i can prob help out more if you have specific questions. Just realize that it will be expensive to do this and probably with little or no returns.... but definitely possible.

I would put a wireless camera down in the footwell area of the front passenger near the outside edge facing up and across to the driver's side window and seat area, with a little note below it saying "smile you've been recorded remotely" or something similar, and have the recording sent wireless to my PC during the night so if someone tried to steal the car they would be easier to identify.

But I'm not that bored/geeky/crazy, and besides I wouldn't buy an Evo unless it could be garaged.

Yet you drive an Acura, which is 10 times more likely to be stolen...

Hahahaha, no that's just the old Integras. Current Acuras are very hard to steal without a key.

I was thinking about something like that the other day. Let me know if it works if you do it.

I'd do what JRock does, tho it wouldn't slove a tha problem if ur car was in like a parking lot during like, grochery shopping, @ a football game or w/e where your car is unattended for a long period of time.

That may be true, but there are still *******s out there who don't know how to respect other peoples property. There have been several threads on this website about keyed cars. lay off the chronic...maybe, but I still think, even if it isn't necessary, a security system with cameras would be hot to have. Besides if some dip**** thinks he can **** my car up and get away with it, I want to be able to take his stupid, arrogant *** to court, in addition to what I'd do if I found him before the cops. hehehe

I have devised a way simplier but MUCH more effective security method to protect my EVO. Having my Highly modified Talon ripped apart 5 times and stolen once, I have had to move on to more drastic mathods.

Go to your local animal shelter, get a Pitbull that used to be a fighting dog (don't worry, he is a winner, all the losers die)

Bring it home, beat teh shot out of it to get it going, and then lock it in your car, get two if you wantr and tie the other to the outside of your car, ever since my new security system, I have never had a problem.
