You're better off just getting one of those grey market CP9A's than trying to build one out of Mirage especially if you're trying to make it look exactly like the stock one. Either way, the car still won't be street legal.

This is the number 1 most popular thing to do to a Mirage. Defiantly not anything new. I wish I had saved for a 4g63 swap instead of turboing my 1.8 4g93.
Go here www.mirageforums.net Search, there is a **** ton of information about 4g63 swaps, AWD swaps etc.

If it is just the engine you want to swap then should not be too much of a problem, but what about the transmission and drivetrain including ACD?
As for body work, you'll need different headlights, front and rear bumper, front and rear fenders, hood and side skirts for sure, and a wing too if you want it.
Then there is welded chassis stiffening as well as bolt on parts like sway bars, you need different springs and shocks. You need a whole new set of brakes.
From my knowledge, CP9A (Evo IV to VI) do not meet US safety and emission standards, not that it was ever tested (its not only about how well a passenger survives from a crash but also minor things like the blinkers not being amber colored etc).
Due to your car's VIN#, it is a regular Mirage and legally your car has no problem, but as I said, technically it may not meet the safety and emissions standards if tested, just like many other heavily modified cars. This could lead to complications when you get pulled over.
The OP wants exact clone, perhaps keeping the LHD configuration, but not a mirage with 4g63t swap, 4wd swap and some aftermarket body kit.

I built my evo III and I am now building a 2 door version also
It is not that hard to do. just get your self a front clip with the rear end and you are good to go. It takes money and time to find all oem body panels like I did. most of the guys that do it just get a body kit from vis to make it cheap and easy.
both of my cars are on here will a crap load of pics
