I wonder how that would look. To have the inside of the tail lights black but paint the lens red like the evo 7 tails.

I think I would be neat to see the back show up behind the red a little.... anyone do it? I saw it on a 350z... pretty cool actually lol

I thought about doing something similar, I was going to use IX tails and paint the outside lense VII style. Pretty much the same thing you would end up with. I didn't want to be the guinea pig and ruin my lights so I just bought some VIII lights to paint instead. I couldn't find anyone who had done it either. Most will tell you not to ruin a set of authentic VII tail lights though, better to try it on a set of cheap VIII's just incase. Do you have a link to the 350z lights?

hmm when i get my new tails(either JDM MR 9s or regular 9s) in ill experiment with my 8's and make the lenses look like the 7s and the inside ill paint black

I believe these are black housing with red painted lenses. I think they look really good. I'm going to try painting my VIII tails and if they come out right, I'll paint my IX's as well then sell the others.
